Cleopatra’s Beauty Secret At Your Home: Hair, Skin And Body Care :)

CLEOPATRA’S BEAUTY SECRETS AT YOUR HOME : HAIR , SKIN AND BODY CARE 🙂

“For her beauty, as we are told, was in itself not altogether incomparable, nor such as to strike those who saw her; but converse with her had an irresistible charm, and her presence, combined with the persuasiveness of her discourse and the character which was somehow diffused about her behavior towards others, had something stimulating about it. There was sweetness also in the tones of her voice; and her tongue, like an instrument of many strings, she could readily turn to whatever language she pleased…”

-Plutarch, Life of Antony

“Cleopatra” … The queen of beauty, was not only a ravishing beauty, but was attractive and soft spoken that any guy would fall for her ;), even the most inaccessible men of her time were attracted to her like Caesar and Mark Antony.

Cicero wrote:

“Her character, which pervaded her actions in an inexplicable way when meeting people, was utterly spellbinding. The sound of her voice was sweet when she talked.”

History tells us that Cleopatra knew a lot about feminine art. From creams to lotions, Soaps to scrubs even cosmetics. She had a lot of servants whom she taught everything.

FIRSTLY HER HAIRS 🙂 :

ImageCleopatra had gorgeous, sultry and silky hair and dressed it with various ornaments and accessories. Any hairstyle that she wore was kept firm with natural setting lotions made from beeswax, resin and salted water.

She had special wigs and hair caps for the occasions where her hair would be exposed directly to the sun.

Cleopatra had Black gorgeous hair. For keeping it black an ointment made with oil and juniper berries and other plants from other parts of the world like reetha was used.

In order to keep her hair conditioned and make her hair grow faster Cleopatra used coconut oil and massaged it on the scalp. A crushed lettuce would be placed on her hair or scalp would be massaged with almond oil and cedar wood oil and fats.

Hot Oil Treatment For Dry Hair:

Here is a magical recipe :). Combine 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoon of castor oil apply it on your scalp and to the tips of your hair.  Then wrap your hair with a towel soaked in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove and rinse off.

FACIAL SKIN TIPS 🙂 :

ImageBright Moisturized Skin:

The secret to her Bright, glowing, baby like skin was that she used honey as facial mask and paste of tomato for tightening purposes, beaten egg whites and some essential oils were used to keep her skin supple and moisturized. Now that’s a girl 😉

  • Here ‘s a recipe … for smooth, soothing and soft skin

1 cucumber

½ Oz white paraffin

2 Oz of sweet almond oil

Cut small chunks of cucumber and blend it until smooth. Melt the paraffin wax in a small bowl on medium heat. As soon as the wax is melted slowly add the oil and keep stirring. Strain the cucumber. Add both things together and blend it well again. Let the mixture sit and become cool slowly to prevent forming crystals in the wax. When it’s cool and smooth, apply it on your face and neck. You can keep this mixture for two months in an air tight container in a cool place.

Anti Aging 🙂 :

Cleopatra was smart enough to think that “Prevention is better than cure” that’s why she started using anti aging treatments before the signs of aging. She used aloe Vera pulp on her skin and a beeswax mask that contained melted bees wax, plant extracts and Cyprus grass powder. This mixture was applied to her face to retain the moisture and prevent wrinkles… Smart enough 🙂

Cleansing 🙂 :

Natron, a product very similar to baking soda was used as a cleanser by the women of ancient Egypt. Baking soda is widely used a natural cleanser, same as natron.

Women in Egypt used lime and oil mixture for cleansing purpose. Cleopatra was a big fan and a huge believer of this cleanser. It was also used because of its lightening properties. It was and it is a very good anti-bacterial cleanser.

  • Natural Cleanser For oily Skin :

½ cup buttermilk

2 tablespoon of crushed fennel seeds

Heat the milk and crushed fennel seeds for about 30 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it cool for  2 – 3 hours. Strain and then pour it into a bottle and refrigerate. Use it for cleansing purpose. You can store it for about 2 to 3 weeks.

Antiseptic Facial Treatments 🙂 :

Now this one is really good. I have tried this. Take 1 egg yolk, 2 tablespoon honey and 10 – 12 drops of almond oil whip them until it becomes creamy, apply a generous amount of cream on your face and you will have bacteria free and smooth skin 🙂  .

One thing that she and I also believe on is lemon juice. Yeah! Lemon juice is also antiseptic, duddetes :).

BODY AND BATH 🙂 :

ImageMysterious beauty Cleopatra and other gorgeous women of her time were well known for their milk baths yeah milk girls! Imagine that?? Now don’t just empty your milk cartons in your bath tub ;). Cleopatra used to add rose water and raw goat milk to her bath water as it is the only milk that contains Capric- carprylic triglyceride which helps to smoothen and soften the skin. So “MILK BATH” … Sounds luxurious hmm?

Oils are very essentials for our body of achieving that soft an smooth texture of skin. Cleopatra also used essential and fragrant oils to keep her skin smooth supple and beautiful.

Cleopatra’s Romantic Body Oils Mixture:

3-4 drops of ylang ylang oil

3-4 drops of jasmine oil

3-4 drops of sandalwood oil

3-4 drops of sweet almond oil

3-4 drops of frankincense oil

3-4 drops of rose Otto oil

Put these oils in your bath water and mix it gently with your hands. Now here is the fun part. Light some candles, play soft music if you want. Clear your mind, forget everything and enjoy this beautiful smelling bath or say “SPA”. 🙂

Natural Body Scrub By Cleopatra:

3 cups of olive oil

2 cups of sweet almond oil

3 cups of fine sea salt

Scented oils (optional)

Mix olive oil, almond oil and sea salt with a spoon in a bowl. Add a few drops of scented oils like peppermint oil or rose oil. And keep it in a glass jar. Apply about a tablespoon on your body and scrub it gently on your skin in circular motion. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes then rinse off.
